Diantha Gardener

Diantha Gardener is a high-performing Platform Engineer within the Global Technology Office (GTO) Hyperautomation & AI (HAI) Platform Engineering division at Merck & Co. Renowned for her technical ingenuity, proactive leadership, and dedication to fostering inclusive technical communities, Diantha has established herself as a core driver of Merck's modern cloud and AI initiatives.

Diantha's journey with Merck began as a highly recruited talent, serving as a Data Science Intern in the Summer of 2021 for Merck Research Laboratories IT (MRL IT), followed by a Vulnerability Management Internship in the Summer of 2022 within IT Risk Management & Security (ITRMS). After graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Binghamton University, she was selected for Merck's Emerging Talent Rotational (ETR) program in IT in July 2023. During her rotations, she designed dynamic security dashboards used for over 3,000 applications, optimized agile roadmaps for HR IT, and revamped vital onboarding infrastructures.

Currently, Diantha co-leads the foundational agentGPTeal platform, where she is responsible for the daily operations of the platform. Additionally, she co-leads and supports the enterprise-wide rollout of GPTeal, powered by Gemini Enterprise. In this critical role, she leads the complex Connector Life Cycle, configuring and deploying new connectors, supporting cross-functional connector teams, managing release SDLC, and collaborating closely with partner teams at Google to ensure seamless integration and communication across the platform. Her engineering contributions have directly reshaped Merck's software development lifecycle, scaling a Tier-1 agentic AI platform to support over 690 active users and 100+ AI agents with zero production incidents. Through her implementation of automated CI/CD pipelines, she dramatically optimized application delivery times from hours to under 15 minutes, an 80% increase in operational efficiency, while cutting end-to-end release cycle effort (DSDLC) by 50%.

Beyond her remarkable technical delivery, Diantha is a passionate advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the STEM fields. As a member of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), she serves on Merck's internal Global Steering Committee and represents the company as an IT Subject Matter Expert at NSBE Annual and Regional Conferences. Within Merck, Diantha remains an active force in multiple Employee Business Resource Group (EBRG) such as NextGen and Lead (League of African Descents), where she serves as a mentor for reverse mentoring. Last year she served as the coordinator for the Emerging Leaders, Interns, and Talent Experience (E.L.I.T.E.) workstream committee, orchestrating the annual immersive symposium for Merck's interns and co-ops.

Today, she continues to support early-career professionals directly through the Intern Mentorship Program, where she recently guided her mentored intern to a successful program completion, while consistently lending her technical and career guidance to help out interns across the community. Through her balance of technical innovation and community stewardship, Diantha continues to shape a brighter, more connected future for Merck and the broader technology ecosystem.
