Leo Hawkes Jr.

Leonard “Leo” Hawkes is a software engineer, entrepreneur, and community builder passionate about using technology to bring people together. As a Senior Software Engineer, he has led large-scale modernization initiatives, helping migrate enterprise applications to modern cloud infrastructure while mentoring fellow engineers and driving technical excellence.

Beyond his work in software, Leonard is the founder of VibeLink, a platform designed to help people discover events, build community, and create meaningful real-world connections through music. His work reflects a belief that technology should do more than solve technical problems. It should strengthen human connection.

A lifelong creative, Leonard is also an accomplished DJ and event organizer who regularly creates spaces that celebrate music, culture, and community. By combining his backgrounds in engineering and entertainment, he continues to bridge the gap between technology and everyday experiences.

Leonard is committed to mentoring aspiring engineers, supporting the next generation of Black technologists, and building products that leave a lasting impact. He is honored to receive the 2026 NSBE NYC Rising Star Award in recognition of his contributions to innovation, leadership, and community.
